Ann Theresa Russoniello passed at 88 years old on January 10th, 2019 surrounded by her children.
Ann was born on March 1st, 1930 in Newark, NJ to Frances and Jack Scevoli, and was older sister to Fred Scevoli. She grew up in North Newark among cousins, aunts, uncles, her mother Frances’ Italian cooking, and father’s wit. She was also close to her maternal grandmother and namesake, Theresa.
She attended Central High School where she was an accomplished baton twirler, working her way up to Head Majorette. She was known for her twirls and her spunky poses.
In her early twenties, she attended a family party when she went on to meet the love her life, Peter “Pete” Russoniello. They were married on February 28th, 1954 and honeymooned in Niagara Falls. They went on to have three beautiful and accomplished children: Alexander “Alec”, Anne, and John “Jack”. She raised her children in East Orange, NJ and the family later moved to Belleville, NJ. She made a mean braciola and was a devoted mother.
Following her high school graduation, her first job was working at a finance company. She then worked at the People’s Bank in Belleville, NJ as a bank teller. Finally, she spent a majority of her career in the medical records department in Clara Maass Medical Center and retired after many years of service.
One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother. She had seven grandchildren, Michelle, Brianna, Alexander, Amanda, Nicholas, Brielle, and Anthony. She also cherished being a mother-in-law to Alec’s wife, Sara, and Jack’s wife, Susan. Although she did not share a fondness for pets, she did however love Holly. She was always present and supportive in both the difficult and joyous times. Without question, you could count on her for humor and dedication to family.
Her love of dancing, music, nail polish, handbags, lots of shoes and chocolate were unrivaled. She valued her family above all and lived her life fully through her outgoing and vivacious personality. Though small in stature, she was fierce. She will be dearly missed and is survived by her three children, two daughter-in-laws, and seven grandchildren
