Fred Carlucci of Belleville passed quietly on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at home. He was 89.
Born in Newark, Mr. Carlucci was the youngest of eight children and lived most of his life in Essex county, residing in Belleville for the last 40 years. His loving wife of over 30 years, Rose, predeceased him in 2013. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Osborn, fifteen nieces and nephews and dozens of great-nieces and -nephews as well as many close friends.
Mr. Carlucci was drafted in 1951 and served in the Marines for 2 years, rising to the rank of corporal before being honorably discharged in 1953. He worked for 17 years at Tungsol in Newark, and later passed his civil service exams and worked as a Corrections Officer at West Caldwell Penitentiary, before retiring as a Sergeant in 1988. He loved to walk his dog, Boomer, through Branchbrook Park, especially at cherry blossom time in the spring. He also loved to dabble at the horse track with his brothers, and even won the NJ lottery in 1988.
Mr. Carlucci will be interred with Military Honors at a later date this coming spring in BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown/Wrightstown, Burlington County, NJ.
