Josephine Marino (nee Grasso), 92, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, Monday, January 20, 2020.
Josephine was born in Newark to the late Donato and Angelina Grasso. She lived in Kearny for over 60 years with her husband, Michael Marino Sr.
Josephine was a waitress and hostess for the Pen & Pencil Restaurant, The Blue Diamond and Hobbie's Deli, all in Newark. She was a devoted Catholic and went to church religiously. She had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone.
Josephine is survived by her son Michael Marino Jr. and his wife Pamela, daughter Janet Bini and her husband Tom, sisters Antoinette Procaccini and Jeanette Nardone, grandchildren Deanna Lamego and her husband Mike, Danae, Michael and Stephanie, and her great granddaughter Sophia Cortese. Along with her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by her brother Nicholas Grasso, sisters Columbia Grasso and Ann Nucifora.
Viewing is Thursday 3-8pm and Friday 8:30-9:15am. Mass is 10am in St Peters Church, Belleville. Cremation is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care.
