Obituary

Ron Coppola, 81, a long-time resident of Wayne, New Jersey, passed away, after a brief illness, on Sunday, November 1, 2020, All Saints Day.

Ron was born, July 15, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey. He was raised in Belleville, and graduated Belleville High School with the class of 1958. He was an outgoing “Belleville Boy” at heart and maintained many of those friendships over the years. He continued to have “boy’s night” dinners with these cherished, long-time friends.

After high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Army stationed in Fort Richardson, Alaska. He earned the rank of Spec 4. While in Alaska, Ron had the important job of maintaining the telephone lines. He shares many memories of his time in the Army, but one of his highlights was surviving the Alaska Earthquake of 1964.

Ron was an entrepreneur and business partner with his brother John running Shipper Direct/Trans Rail Warehouse in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was in the shipping/warehouse industry for close to 50 years. He had a very strong business philosophy and work ethic and continued to work until a month before his passing.

In 1975 he met the love of his life, Angela, at the Binghamton Ferryboat in Edgewater, NJ. They married in 1980 and in 1985 they had a beautiful daughter, Francoise. They resided in Wayne for over 40 years. Throughout the years, they traveled to many different destinations and enjoyed delicious dinners at restaurants all over the tri-state area. Together they renovated their beloved country cottage located in the mountains of Pennsylvania and vacationed there often. This home was their pride and joy and Ron shared this love with his two grandsons Dylan and David. He treasured watching as his grandsons learned to fish and catch frogs and dragonflies.

Ron had many passions and hobbies. Among them was being a member of the Cadillac Club, traveling, gardening, cooking, enjoyed fine wines and a good cigar. You name it, he could fix it. He loved playing the slots in Atlantic City and, most importantly, spending time with friends and family.

Ron is the Devoted Husband to Angela, Doting Dad to Darlynn Killman and her husband Kevin of Texas; Francoise Marielle Spano and her husband David of Montvale. Wonderful Grandpa to Dylan and David. He was a cherished brother to John (and Betty) and James Coppola. Loving brother-in-law to Robert and Frank Rossi. Ron leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his dear brother Joseph Coppola Jr. (1996)
His loving parents Joseph (2002) and Anice Coppola (1976)
His cherished in-laws Mary (2008) and Frank Rossi (2001)

Ron was a truly special man who was generous to a fault. He touched the lives of so many people and will be sincerely missed by everyone.
